The Spirit of Vengance, Avenger of the Innocent
Niveau : 6
Binding DC : 30
A being of pure vengance, Rider binds to his summoner's souls, allowing them to stike down evil where it stands.
(6) The Spirit of Vengance, Avenger of the Innocent Ghost-Rider-1

Légende : If ever there was a case for the argument that vestiges are part of the natrual order of thigns, The Spirit of Vengance is the stongest proof. Nameless, ageless, and devastatingly strong, the Spirit is, in many ways, the purest vestige known. Truthfully, there has never been any record of the Spirit other than as a vestige; rather, the SoV's history has been recorded through it's many binders over the years, and it's longtime interaction with (and war against) the lower planes. Bar none, the most famous of the so-called Warriors of Vengance is Jonathan Blaze, a thrill-seeking adventurer who, in a hasty yet heartfelt attempt to save his father from a devastating disease, struck a deal with the Archfiend Mephistophiles. though it is unknown how a demon lord gained control of a vestige, Mephistophiles forcibly bound the SoV to Blaze, and forced him to work as a bounty hunter of escaped demons and souls. Though believeing for a very long time that he had no choice in the matter, he eventually encountered others bound to the spirit of vengance, albeit willingly. With the knowledged that the power he used came not from the demon lord, but from a vestige, he battled against Mephistophiles, and escaped astride a huge nightmare. To this day, Blaze uses his Vestige-birthed powers to protect the innocent, and the SoV lends itself to all those who would fight in it's name; as a nod to their abilities, Binders who champoin the Spirit come to be known as Ghost Riders, or simply Riders. As a side note: the Spirit of vengance allows the binder to conjure and control hellfire, the same substance which Mephistophlies so prides himself on inventing. It is conjectured, though quietly, that is was through this vestige that the demon lord learned of hellfire, and went on perfecting it from there.

Pré-requis : The symbol used to summon The spirit must be made of a flammable substance and be lit on fire.

Manifestation : The spirit wastes very little time with a showy manifestation. A well dressed man of the binders species, clad in dark colors, walks out of the shadows with a cane in one hand. He quickly negotiates the deal with the binder, and seals the deal with a handshake. At this, the binder undergoes the transformation which causes him to display the sign; even if the binder is able to supress the sign, during the binding he is unable to. He may supress it later as normal.

Signe : The binder's clothes take on a more sinister apperance, darkening in color, transforming into black leather, growing spikes, etc. As well, the binder's skin slowly burns away (causing no pain or damage to the binder) and is replaces by solid, translucent hellfire. This hellfire does not damage the binder, his equipment, or those he touches. The binders bones are visible through the hellfire, giving him the apperance of a flaming skeleton.

Influence : When under the Spirit of Vengance's influence, you make it your personal duty to avenge wrongs against those you percieve as innocent. Additionally, due to the Spirit's intense ties to the matter, even if the binder makes a good bind, he may still feel the urge to protect/avenge the innocent, and may spontaneously display the vestiges sign (if the binder makes a DC 35 binding check when first binding the Spirit, he overcomes this flaw)

Pouvoirs Conférés :

Hunter Chain : As a swift action, you can summon a large chain(1d8, 20 x2, bludgeoning damage) made of solidified hellfire which you are proficient with and can wield without penalty. The chain may be used as a double weapon and as a reach weapon, and can lengthen out to a maximum of 100' (for use as a rope). The bonuses of the weapon vary depending on binder level.
12th or lower: +1 adamantine chain
13th - 15th: +1 flaming adamantine chain
15th - 18th: +2 flaming burst adamantine chain
19th+: +2 Darkened, flaming burst adamantine chain

Burst of Hellfire : The binder can fling blasts of hellfire at his enemies. He gains the Hellfire Blast ability of a Hellfire Warlock equal to his EBL/3. This stacks with any previous Warlock levels to determine total Blast damage. Once every 5 rounds, the binder can shape his blast into a 20' radius burst, centered on himself, a 60' cone, or a 40' long, 5' wide wall which persists for 5 rounds. Additionally, the binder gains the Greater Weapon Aflame ability, dealing an extra 4d6 hellfire damage with a melee attack, reach attack, or Unarmed Strike. This does not cause constitution damage as the Hellfire blast abiltiy does.

Ghost Rider in the Sky : The binder gains the ability to summon a mount comprised of Hellfire. The mount has the abilities of a Phantom Steed with a caster level equal to the binder's EBL. This mount need not take the shape of a horse, though that is most common; since it is comprised of hellfire, it can be shaped to match the binders imagination

Blood of the Innocent : If the blood of an innocent is spilled within 5 miles of th ebinders current location, the binder senses it and can find the exact location. Additionally, the binder can Detect Evil and Detect Good at will. This ability bypasses any attempts made to conceal it.

Penance Stare : When locked in a grapple with an opponent, the binder may attempt a gaze attack. The binder looks for the evil in the foe's soul, and sears it away with cleansing hellfire. The enemy must make a will save; failure means the binder does damage based on the alignment of the enemy:
Good: stunned for 1 round
Neutral: stunned for 1d4 rounds
Evil: Stunned for 1d6 rounds, take 1 negative level
Evil outsider: stunned for 2d6 rounds, take 1 negative level/4 EBL (max 5)
Once the binder uses this ability, he may not use it again for 5 rounds. The binder must show the Spirit's sign to use this ability.
